COLOR TRIBULATIONS
TRIbulations…
Since Belmont University moved to teaching online and the public-school system shut down– my daily routine became a cycle of feeding my kids, walking them and the dog, teaching four courses online, attempting to teach 1st and pre-school curriculum, feeding the kids again, cleaning again…then in the afternoons after settling my 3 year old down, and my 7 year old heads out to play…I started painting and painting and painting. I have painted every day since we have been “safer at home”.
My studio used to be upstairs in the playroom, but with the nice Spring weather and our “safer at home order’ I wanted to find a way to keep painting and provide my kids the opportunity to be outside as much as possible. I started painting at the kitchen table, and then moved to the deck table as the weather got nicer….but I got tired of having to clean up for every meal. Therefore, I moved my studio into the driveway, thinking this would be a great space…and it worked for a few days, but I tired of having to take it in each night.
Therefore, I moved my car into the driveway and created a sanctuary to paint in while remaining a mother watching her girls run around, catch insects and escape the worries of COVID19. I’m calling this series ‘Color Tribulations” as it is the time I play with color that helps me fight off the anxiety, troubles, difficulties, and constant uncertainty that comes from Covid19. Each painting represents my attempt to find peace, a sense of safety and calm in the middle of Covid19 chaos. Creating & playing with color makes me happy. It is my hope that these works bring you joy in uncertain times. Below is a gallery of some of the works. If you would like to bring one home, please find them in the painting section with their titles, size, media and price.
